Teacher's Info

This section will aim to provide teachers with planning tools for units of work, links for more in depth knowledge of topics, lesson ideas and additional activities.

Farming and food production can feature in all areas of the curriculum from literacy and numeracy to art and dance, and from the early years Foundation Stage to Key Stage 2 and beyond. Building this resource is an ongoing project and our aim is to develop it to encompass all subjects eventually.

Meanwhile, if you have any queries, comments or request for information on areas not yet covered, please contact us via the link on this website and we will try to help.

Using this website

The key to this website is the Seasons button on the home page which will lead you through the farming year.

Within each season’s sector there are specified areas for Foundation Stage, Keystage 1 and Keystage 2. These areas are sub-divided into sections entitled In the Farmyard, In the Field and In the Kitchen.

For each section there are three boxes covering different topics of interest in farming and food production at that time of year.

For example: Spring, Keystage 1, in the farmyard, box 1 is all about lambs.

A related activity or game accompanies each box. For some Foundation Stage topics an audio feature is also provided.
